On Cultural Route Heritage and Its Conservation in Jiangsu   (7)
【Abstract】Cultural routes, being synthesized with the world cultural and natural heritages, not only bear the characteristics of space, time, culture and function, but also reflect the features of the connection of history and reality, the combination of humanity and nature, the multi – dimension of time and space, and the diversification of heritage value, etc. Jiangsu boasts plentiful cultural routes such as the Grand Ganal heritage, the Buddhism transmission routes, the routes of ZHENG He’s voyages, and the routes of the inspection tour of Jiangnan of Emperors Kang Xi and Qian Long, and so on. Now Jiangsu has formed a set of conservation ideas which are to construct the legal system and to carry out the micro – protection, to examine and elaborate the value of cultural routes in dynamic and progressive perspective, to establish the multi – disciplinary, multi – country, multi – regional and multi – sectoral co – operation, and to handle every certain case of the cultural routes scientifically and cautiously.

The Application of Principles for the Conservation of Heritage Sites in China in Ancient Architecture Conservation Project   (12)
【Abstract】In recent years, with the improvement of relevant national heritage conservation policy as well as the financial resource investment unceasing increase, our country cultural relic construction protection obtains the huge result. However, because the concepts, management, expertise, and law enforcement relative do not adapt, the cultural relic construction protection project in the design, the construction and the management had some problems. This paper just combines these problems with Principles for the Conservation of Heritage Sites in China and related laws and regulations of heritage preservation policy on these issues to make an analysis, and put forward some constructive comments.

The Basic Enquiries in Heritage Investigation   (20)
【Abstract】The basic enquiries should be included into a heritage investigation, such as the identification of the authentic geographic landscape and social context in which heritage sites were originally created, used, adapted, the component indicators of a single heritage site or landscape indicating the ways of human – landscape interactions, the social dimensions in which heritage pressures or impacts can be understood and assessed. All these enquiries should be viewed as the basis for heritage management. Many aspects in Chinese heritage practices need to be improved. Amongst these, the improvement of investigation methodologies comprises the core, especially in zoning, the links between heritage and modern communities, the evaluation of the social conditions, and the like. All these elements should be carefully examined before any management plan is produced.

【Abstract】In 2007, Nanjing Municipal Museum excavated a pit tomb of late Warring States period at Yard No.10, Baotading, outside Zhong Hua Men. It is the first tomb which was found Warring States Period in the main district of Nanjing, and it provides important new materials for the history research of Nanjing city’s development.

A Brief Excavation Report of the Han Dynasty Tombs at Yaoshang Village, Hushu, Nanjing   (30)
【Abstract】Hushu was ever the administration seat for the Hushu County in the Eastern and Western Han dynasties and Han tombs were concentrated there. The previously excavated Han tombs were mostly of middle and late period of Western Han Dynasty, and the early Western Han tombs hadn’t been found yet. Tomb 6 and tomb 7 of Yaoshang village were of early period of the Western Han Dynasty. The normative clearance, integral materials and the difference of the tombs age and distribution, all these have important academic values to the research of Han tombs distribution in Hushu region and the tombs’ shape evolution in Nanjing as well as the funerary rites of Han Dynasty.

【Abstract】In 2005, three Han tombs unearthed in Huoqiu County, Anhui Province showed the same construction, which appeared in earthen – shaft shape of late Western Han to Xinmang Dynasty. They will provide new materials for the culture of Han Dynasty in this region.

A Brief Excavation Report of Tomb No.7 of Han Dynasty at Pangxiedi, Xinji, Yizheng   (44)
【Abstract】A tomb in Xinmang Period was found at Pangxiedi, Xinji, Yizheng in 2002 and a lot of fine bronze wares and lacquer wares were unearthed. The tomb owner might be a noble of Guanglin State by analyzing the inscriptions on the bronze Fang (钫). This tomb provides valuable materials for the research of culture, economy, funeral convention and the workmanship of bronze wares of Guanglin State in late Western Han Dynasty.

Report of an Eastern Tomb at Shunli, Ganquan, Hanjiang, Jiangsu   (51)
【Abstract】An Eastern Han brick – chambered tomb was found in Shunli, Ganquan, Hanjiang. The front room is transverse, connecting with the coffin room alone. The structure is T shape. The tomb had no corridor. It followed the layout of the local Western Han wooden – chambered tomb that the outer coffin is transverse. It is the tomb of some higher status person in the early and middle term of Eastern Han. The copper caliper with fish pattern is a precise vernier. It is extremely valuable.

【Abstract】A research on Hanxin relic, Huai’an, which includes overall layout of the ancient city and excavated objects has proved that the ancient city was not built in Han Dynasty, and it should be the place where Hanxin was born. It also proved that the ancient city once as a transit hub of East Huai area in Beisong Dynasty, and in the Jin and Yuan Dynasties it was an important Military strategic place.

On the Features and Causes of Bronze Wares during the Early Western Han Dynasty in Lingnan   (64)
【Abstract】Based on the bronze wares unearthed in the Lingnan region and with the method of statistical analysis, it was found that the unearthed bronze artifacts in this region in the early Western Han period are geographically concentrated in large quantity, of all kinds, but the functions of them were changed. These changes might concern with the traffic improvement, the ironed process and the establishment of Nanyue state by Zhao Tuo and his governance of the country.

Cultural Symbols of Fang, Zhong and Soul Bottles   (68)
【Abstract】Many pottery pots, such as Fang, Zhong and Soul bottle from the burials of the Han and Wei & Jin Dynasties symbolize the immortal world of the Han Dynasty, i.e. the three – mountain of eastern sea. Soul bottle from the Wei & Jin Dynasties symbolizes five – mountain of the immortal world. The pots, as a representation of material, represent systematic immortal idea of the Han Dynasty. The immortal world of the Han Dynasty, which took its shape in accordance with previous Shamanistic antetype, indicates an initiation of the burial culture with its own characteristics in ancient China.

A Study of the Influence of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism on Hui Merchants   (72)
【Abstract】The ancient Huizhou, locating in south of Anhui, had been known as “”cheng – zhu’s ancestral home” and “southeastern zou lu (邹鲁)” since the Southern Song Dynasty. It was a typical area authentically inheriting Chinese culture. The Hui merchants were influenced unconsciously by traditional culture and formed the cultural characteristics in the depths of their thought, which had common concept belief, ethics, the etiquette custom and so on, built a kind of “cultural pattern” characterized by a confirmed and willingly abided business practices system. The Hui merchants with its strong economic fundamental create a unique Huizhou culture. Its rich cultural connotation fully embodied the Chinese orthodox Confucian, as well as reflected the thought flame of Buddhism and Taoism. This paper will give a detailed analysis of the Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism development in Huizhou and their impact on Hui merchants, so that we can comprehensively and accurately grasp and understand the cultural ideas of Hui merchants.

Cultural Connotations of Nantong Residential Decoration   (79)
【Abstract】Due to its peculiar situation, Nantong has formed complex cultural characteristics, composed mainly by Wu culture, as well as Huai culture and sea culture. In the south of Nantong, the architectures were affected more by Wu culture. Its decoration style focuses on permeability and transparency. In the north of Nantong, the architectures were affected more by sea culture. Its decoration style focuses enthusiastic and elaboration.

Discussion on Some Words of Classical & Philosophical Works Quoted in Shen Wu Fu   (88)
【Abstract】Shen Wu Fu quoted some words from “The Book of Songs”, “The Analects of Confucius”, “Zhouyi”, “The Piety Scripture”, “Laozi”, “Zhuangzi”, “Xunzi”, etc. These words were different from today’s texts. Reading this Fu we can add to the content of Qi Poems in the “Shi San Jia Yi Ji Shu”, and deduce that the author of Fu could study Qi Poems and “the Analects of Confucius”. Trying to explain “zhi yu fan (止于樊)”, “ji zi (幾自)”, “qu se jiu an (去色就安)”, “bu yi bu xin (不意不信)” and so on, it would be useful to understand the text of “Shen Wu Fu”. According to the Western Han Dynasty official school system, we can speculate the educational situation of the author approximately.
