Born in Shanghai in 1955, Zhu graduated from the Archaeology Program, Department of History of the Sichuan University in 1977, and entered the IACASS in the same year. He had been a member of the Department of Prehistoric Archaeology and joined several fieldworks including the excavation at the Guanmiaoshan site, Zhijiang, Hubei and the survey in east Qinghai. Now he is a professor of the Information Center of the IACASS, deputy-chief-editor of Zhongguo kaoguxue nianjian (Annual of Chinese Archaeology) and supervisor of MA candidates of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His research interests are Neolithic archaeology in China and history of Chinese archaeology.
