Book Review: A Study of the Lacquer-ware of the Warring States and Qin-Han Period
From:Chinese Archaeology  Writer:Zheng Yan  Date:2008-10-23

These objects are an epitome of the then social life and artistic concept, and contain rich historical information; and this period of time was the decisive age in the history of Chinese lacquer-ware art. The study of the shape, decoration and making techniques of lacquer-ware is an important part of researches on the history of material culture, technology and art at that time; and the production, circulation and use of lacquer-ware, which involve the then economic system, customs and ideology, constitute a significant angle of view for investigating those historical problems. The book under discussion pays attention to all of the above-mentioned subjects, puts forward a series of new ideas, and provides a new basis for researches in the future.
